With thirty years’ experience handling a myriad of family law litigation cases, Julie understands that the loss of a relationship is one of the most devastating things a person can face in life. She believes that quality representation to clients considers the unique aspects of each client’s case and life along with knowledge of the law as it relates to the specific facts of their case. After years of practicing family law and seeing the destruction that litigation can exacerbate in both the client’s personal and business life, Julie was driven by a desire to play a role in lessening the emotional and financial cost clients experience in family law litigation. Upon becoming trained in the collaborative process, she knew she had found a way to really help families in the throes of a family law issue while protecting their valued privacy. Although Collaborative Law is not the right approach for every case, Julie believes that all parties, no matter which process they choose to resolve their case, should be able to maintain their dignity throughout the legal process, understand that their case can be resolved without losing sight of their ideals and integrity and feel confident that their legal counsel will assist them in that goal instead of becoming an impediment. The situation may be outside of their control but how the clients and attorneys react to the situation most definitely is within their control
Julie was selected as a SuperLawyer in 2011, honored by D Magazine as one of the Best Women Lawyers in Dallas in 2010, holds an AV peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbell, is listed in the Martindale Hubbell Registry of Preeminent Lawyers and the Martindale Hubbell Registry of Preeminent Women Lawyers, and is a member of the Collaborative Alliance. She graduated with a B.A. degree from Austin College in 1978, a J.D. degree from Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1981 and is a trained mediator and collaborative lawyer. She is a member of the American Bar Association, ABA Center for Professional Responsibility, the State Bar of Texas (including membership in the Family Law, LGBT and Animal Rights Sections), the College of the State Bar, Dallas Bar Association, Collin County Bar Association, Denton County Bar Association, Texas Center for Legal Ethics and Professionalism, Collaborative Law Institute of Texas, International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, the Collaborative Alliance, the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, is a Life Member of the Texas Family Law Foundation and a Life Fellow of the Dallas Bar Association.
