Grandparent Custody and Visitation
One of the greatest joys in life is that brought by a grandchild. The laws regarding grandparent custody and visitation are often confusing to all involved, but the law can provide for access to, or even primary care of grandchildren in certain instances. Grandparents also need to be aware that in the event of a termination suit filed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (commonly known as CPS) against your child, related to your grandchild, it is often necessary and advisable for a Grandparent to step in and work to have the Court order custody and/or possession of the grandchild to the Grandparent, rather than having the child placed in the foster care system. At Quaid & Quaid, LLC, we understand the complicated framework of the grandparent custody and visitation laws, and will work with you to try to help insure that you will have adequate access with your grandchild and if necessary, primary possession/custody.
