Representative Civil Experience

Chuck is a direct and to-the-point, solution oriented attorney with 30 years experience in handling divorce, complex and significant property cases, child custody and other family law litigation matters. While his focus is now solely on Family Law, Collaborative Divorce and Collaborative Family Law, he has handled legal matters of a wide array including civil litigation at every level of federal and state Court. Those matters include creating and advising closely held corporations, FLP’s, LLP’s, LLC’s, LP’s etc., as well as representing and advising entrepreneurs, professionals, corporate executives and equity owners of privately held and publically traded companies, including in ownership and valuation disputes about such entities. His extensive experience in tort, contract, constitutional, and commercial litigation allow him a unique perspective and additional insight into all family law disputes that he handles.

As an experienced litigator, Chuck also realizes that the litigation process used in event based disputes can be severely inadequate in resolving a relationship based dispute/divorce where the parties will have some continued relationship in the future as parents, grandparents, or through a mutual sphere of common friends and business associates. Chuck is therefore thoroughly trained and experienced in Collaborative Divorce and Collaborative Family Law and is a strong proponent of the use of Collaborative Divorce/Collaborative Family Law process to resolve domestic relations cases believing that it is the process that best facilitates the needs of his clients and their families.

Chuck Received his J.D. From Southern Methodist School of Law. He is AV Rated and listed in Martindale Hubbell Register of Preeminent Lawyers. He is a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of Texas, Dallas County Bar Association (serving as a past director of the Family Law section), Collin County Bar Association, Denton County Bar Association, Texas Center for Legal Ethics and Professionalism, Collaborative Law Institute of Texas, International Association of Collaborative Professionals, Sustaining Life Member of the Dallas Bar Association. He has written articles and presented at seminars to fellow attorneys, including in the area of family law.
